Rijeka Airport today
warmly welcomed the first flight of Switzerland's national airline, SWISS, marking the launch of its new seasonal service between Zurich and Rijeka.
The arrival of the
inaugural aircraft was celebrated with a traditional water salute, symbolising
the beginning of the partnership with Switzerland's flag carrier. Upon arrival,
passengers were welcomed by a folklore group from the island of Krk and presented
with small welcome gifts.
The new route will
operate until the end of August, further enhancing air connectivity between
Rijeka, the Kvarner region and Switzerland. In addition to providing
convenient travel between the two destinations, the Zurich service offers
passengers access to a wide range of onward connections across Europe and to
intercontinental destinations via one of Europe's leading aviation hubs.
SWISS, Switzerland's
national airline, is a member of the Lufthansa Group and the Star Alliance
network. From its hub in Zurich, the airline connects passengers to more than
one hundred destinations across Europe and around the world. Renowned for its
high-quality service and extensive network, the addition of Rijeka to its
seasonal route network further strengthens the international accessibility of
the Kvarner region.
With the introduction
of this new service—joining Dubrovnik as SWISS's second destination in
Croatia—Rijeka Airport further expands its summer flight offering while
strengthening its international connectivity. The new route is expected to
support the continued growth of tourism while also providing local travellers
with convenient access to Zurich and worldwide destinations.
